Ask these before you book
Clear answers to these make a decision much easier.
- Will a licensed provider see me before any treatment?
- Who gives the treatment, and what is their license?
- What specific training do they have for it?
- What is the device or product, and why do you use it?
- What does a series involve, and how many visits is typical?
- What should aftercare look like?
- If something goes wrong, what happens next?
- Can I have the full cost in writing first?
What to bring or write down
A little preparation makes a consultation more useful. Before you go, write down:
- Any medical conditions, past or current.
- Medications and supplements you take.
- Allergies, including to anesthetics or skin products.
- Past cosmetic treatments and when you had them.
- What you hope to talk about, in your own words.
Bring your list of questions and a way to take notes.
Take your time
There is rarely a good reason to decide about a cosmetic treatment in a single visit. If a provider pushes you to book that day, that tells you something.
Other signs to slow down: no consultation, vague answers about who performs the treatment, or no written cost. You can look up most health licenses on the New York state board website. A provider who is properly licensed will usually tell you their license type and number if you ask.
Tell a provider in Rochester what you would like to ask. You decide what happens after you talk.
